Grandparents Rule! Multi-generational Family Portrait Kauai

Grandparents Mike and Sharon are part-time residents here on Kauai. Every other year they are fortunate enough to have all their kids, Jennifer, Jill and Michael come celebrate the holidays together here. Jennifer and Jill have families of their own and Uncle Mike is adored by his nieces and nephews. I have so much fun with this family, this is the second time I've had the opportunity to photograph them and their was a new addition to the crew on this shoot: grand-daughter Ella. During the photo session she took her very first steps, how amazing to have the opportunity to document the family's excitement and this very precious moment! Toddlers aren't always easy to work with... but never mind the challenge when there is the possibility of capturing discovery through their eyes!

In addition to the group pictures, I also make time to photograph the smaller groups within the family, making the most of our portrait session.

There were almost 400 final edits from this photo session... here are my favorites... hard to decide...

Here's to Grandparents! Kauai Family Portraits at The Grand Hyatt in Poipu

I was very close to my grandmother growing up and the trips we took together are some of my favorite memories. When I was a little girl I didn't realize how precious those memories would be now...

This last holiday season I had the opportunity to work with several multi-generational families and I think what made these sessions so special to me was the presence of grandparents. I know that these images that are enjoyed now will become precious heirlooms to the grandchildren when they grow up and have families of their own.

The last blogs of this month are tributes to those grandparents... and in a way to my own. I was very lucky to have the ones I did! This post is dedicated to grandparents like Bill Kroll, giving their grandchildren precious memories of this time together.
