Please Spay and Neuter. Kauai doesn't need more puppies!

A couple weeks ago Bill and I were driving down Kaumualii Hwy and saw a brand new lifted Toyota pick up on the side of the road with a big cardboard sign "Puppies for Sale." We slowed and saw a three or four black mixed breed pups in the bed looking hot and tired, no Mama in sight. It made me sad, in a few more miles we passed Kauai Humane Society, and I wondered what the odds were that any, one, or all of those pups would end up there. I understand the premise of humane education, getting the word out to spay and neuter your dogs, but what more can be done to drive the point home that Kauai does not need more dogs, there are not enough homes for them and if you are a pet owner to stop breeding irresponsibly. This puppy and her brothers were made available for adoption this week, they resemble the "Puppies for Sale" but I can't be sure.
